•Cosentino presents the 11th edition of the international contest for students of architecture and design, Cosentino Design Challenge, at the Madrid Technical School of Architecture (ETSAM) to students, professional architects and designers and the media.
• Over twenty national and international institutions are supporting this initiative that promotes talent and creativity of students.
Cosentino Group, a global leader in the production and distribution of natural stone, quartz, recycled and architectural surfaces, announces its 2017 Cosentino Design Challenge. Now in its 11th year, the initiative challenges architecture and design students from institutions and universities across the United States, Europe, Asia and South Pacific to research and conceptualize space and layout design, using Cosentino materials as their medium.
“The Cosentino Design Challenge is rooted in principles that make up the very fabric of our company,” says Lorenzo Marquez, VP of Marketing for Cosentino North America. “Beyond the design theme for the challenge, this contest allows us to help educate future professionals on the crucial role innovative materials must play in every project and how to have respect for the environment. Each year we’re so inspired by the presentations, concepts and dialogues that surface. We look forward to receiving the entries.”
As a result of increased participation year over year, the Cosentino Design Challenge has quickly gained recognition across the globe as a well-respected design program, rooted in innovation and research, for future architecture and design professionals.
About the Cosentino Challenge:
The 2017 Cosentino Design Challenge has two categories: Architecture and Design. Architecture students are challenged to reflect on “Cosentino and Travel,” while design students are to focus on “Cosentino and Technology.” Entrants are given complete creative liberty with one requirement: each project must include at least one Cosentino product.
Submissions will be accepted now through June 7, 2017 through the competition’s website, www.cosentinodesignchallenge.org. All Cosentino Centers and Cosentino City showrooms around the globe are open to participating students so they can discover and experience the company’s wide range of materials.
The winners will be selected in June 2017 by a group of leading designers and architects; projects finishing in first, second and third place in each category will be awarded $1,000 and will be promoted to leading architecture and design media outlets around the globe. The challenge will also recognize three additional entries as runners-up.
