Silestone (www.silestoneusa.com), a world leader in natural quartz surfacing, will launch an exciting new Trendspotters program by bringing together leading designers from across the country to spot the latest products, design innovation, and color trends at the 2012 Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) from April 24-26 in Chicago. From bright, bold color and unique textures to innovative applications and international influences, they’ll be revealing this year’s highlights directly from the show floor. The Trendspotters will serve as design ambassadors for their regional markets, delivering a KBIS trend report this summer at a special event in their local Cosentino Center or industry partner showroom.

The Silestone Trendspotters will include four renowned designers with distinct and compelling design aesthetic from three important U.S. markets:

  • Kim Lewis, former designer for ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and founder of Kim Lewis Designs in Los Angeles. In six years with the prime time network show, Kim designed the architecture, exteriors, interiors and landscape for more than 100 custom homes in 41 states, Lewis also has been published in People and InStyle for her design work for the home of singer/songwriter, Jewel.
  • John Loecke and Jason Oliver Nixon, are the design duo behind Madcap Cottage in New York City. The interior design firm’s creations reflect a respect for tradition tempered with bold splashes of color and playful patterns. John Loecke also was named by House Beautiful magazine as one of America’s Top 25 Young Designers. And after two decades as an editor for publications including Gotham, Hamptons, Los Angeles Confidential, and Aspen Peak, Nixon teamed up with Loecke to open Madcap Cottage.
  • Mark Williams, of Mark Williams Design Associates in Atlanta. With varied experience in residential and design and interiors, and commercial interiors, Mark has developed a diverse work portfolio and is frequently published in magazines such as Kitchen Trends, Southern Living, Dream Baths, and Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles.

Together, the Silestone Trendspotters will utilize more than 45 years of collective experience and a keen eye for great design to instantly report on emerging trends at KBIS through their own blogs and social media channels as well as the Silestone digital platforms, using the hashtag #SilestoneTrends. The up-to-the-minute insight will allow other architects and designers who can’t attend KBIS to stay informed on the newest products and trends for their design projects. Additionally, consumers and design enthusiasts, who typically are not permitted to attend the industry-only trade show also can get a sneak peak and join in the design conversation on the Silestone Facebook page where all #SilestoneTrends updates will appear during KBIS.

COSENTINO OPENS CHARLOTTE CENTER

Last week, Cosentino, the global leader in natural stone, quartz, and recycled surfacing, opened its eighth North American Cosentino Center in Charlotte. More than 180 building and design industry leaders and top Cosentino executives attended the grand opening reception. The new Charlotte Center, designed by Isabel Martinez-Cosentino, aims to enhance both the trade and consumer experience and continues Cosentino’s mission to expand its presence in the U.S. market over the next year.

The April 12 program included remarks from Eduardo Cosentino, CEO of Cosentino North America, and Brian Lynch, Northeast Regional Director and interim acting General Manager for the Charlotte Cosentino Center. Visitors to the Charlotte center will be able to explore and engage in all aspects of the kitchen and bath experience—from material and color section to specification and fabrication. It will include a comprehensive showcase of the full portfolio of Cosentino brands, including: Silestone Natural Quartz; ECO by Cosentino recycled surfaces; SenSa® Granite; Scalea Natural Stone; Marlique™ Marble; MURO™ Mosaics; and the Prexury™ Collection, a semi-precious stone line handmade by expert craftsmen.

The Charlotte opening marks the first center in North Carolina.

Last week, Cosentino, the global leader in natural stone, quartz, and recycled surfacing, opened its seventh North American Cosentino Center in San Diego. More than 200 building and design industry leaders and top Cosentino executives attended the grand opening reception, which featured a American Institute of Architects (AIA) continuing education course on hard surfacing options. The new San Diego Center, designed by Isabel Martinez-Cosentino, aims to enhance both the trade and consumer experience and continues Cosentino’s mission to expand its presence in the U.S. market over the next year.

The March 15 program included remarks from Eduardo Cosentino, CEO of Cosentino North America, and Scott Newhan, General Manager for the San Diego Cosentino Center. Guests mingled throughout Cosentino’s 25,000-square-foot facility, which includes a distribution warehouse with giant slabs of Silestone Natural Quartz; ECO by Cosentino recycled surfaces; SenSa® Granite; Scalea Natural Stone; Marlique™ Marble; MURO™ Mosaics; and the Prexury™ Collection, a semi-precious stone line handmade by expert craftsmen and a 3,400 square-foot state-of-the-art showroom.

The Cosentino Center is more than a showroom and distribution center. To welcome San Diego architects and designers, Cosentino will partner with the American Institute of Architects (AIA) to offer an continuing education course on hard surfacing options that will take place on the night of the grand opening, starting at 5 p.m. The educational tour will allow designers to experience raw materials first-hand and learn how they are transformed into finished products. The course also will cover a range of topics such as product sustainability and environmental impact.

COSENTINO GROUP SALES SURGE IN U.S. MARKET, PLANS TO INVEST $31 MILLION IN THE OPENING OF 10 NEW COSENTINO CENTERS IN 2012

Cosentino Group, a global leader in the production and distribution of quartz surfaces and other natural stones, has announced an eight percent increase in its U.S. sales, reaching an annual total of $271 million in 2011. After 15 years in the U.S. market, North American sales now account for nearly 50 percent of the family-owned company’s total global revenue.

Additionally, Cosentino Group forecasts up to 18 percent annual growth for the next two years in the U.S. market, with estimated sales expected to top $365 million for 2013.  These robust growth projections are supported by Cosentino’s plan to continue strengthening its leadership role in North America with the opening of 10 new Cosentino Centers this year — a total investment of $31 million.

The centers will be located in key American markets including: San Francisco, San Diego, Minnesota, Cincinnati, Kansas City, Denver and Portland, among others. These new facilities are in addition to the 12 existing centers that Cosentino Group currently operates in the United States, bringing the total by the end of 2012 to 22 centers nationwide.

In the 17 countries where it operates, Cosentino Group supports its distribution through innovative “Cosentino Centers.”  More than a showroom, the Cosentino Center is designed to support, promote, and educate trade professionals by integrating distribution facilities, exhibition areas, workspaces for designers to bring clients, classrooms for continuing education, and fully functioning kitchens and event space for demonstrations. The centers create a unique interactive environment for architects, designers, distributors, and fabricators to view the latest products and design trends, attend educational workshops, hear from visiting expert speakers, and receive training on new production techniques and innovations. Cosentino announced its 2011 revenue and 2012 projections at its annual “Cosentino 100” Distributors Convention in Mexico in January. There, Cosentino discussed with more than 200 of its top customers from over 70 companies in the stone and design industry, how various U.S. economic indicators show that the country is in a recovery period. Cosentino noted that, in particular, the housing market is recovering and increased spending on home renovation is expected in the coming years.
